भरद्वाजस्य तु सखा पृषतॊ नाम पार्थिवः तस्यापि दरुपदॊ नाम तदा समभवत सुतः ॥ १-१५४-६ ॥
'Around the same time that the sage Bharadwaja's son Drona was born from the preserved semen, his friend Prishata, the king of the Panchalas, also begot a son who was named Drupada.' ॥ 1-154-6 ॥
english translation
स नित्यम आश्रमं गत्वा दरॊणेन सह पार्षतः चिक्रीडाध्ययनं चैव चकार कषत्रियर्षभः ॥ १-१५४-७ ॥
'That bull among Kshatriyas, Drupada, would regularly go to Drona's ashram and play as well as study together with him.' ॥ 1-154-7 ॥
english translation
ततस तु पृषते ऽतीते स राजा दरुपदॊ ऽभवत दरॊणॊ ऽपि रामं शुश्राव दित्सन्तं वसु सर्वशः ॥ १-१५४-८ ॥
'After the demise of King Prishata, his son Drupada ascended the throne. Around this time, Drona heard that the great Brahmin warrior Rama, son of Jamadagni, was intent on renouncing the world and wished to give away all his wealth.' ॥ 1-154-8 ॥

वनं तु परथितं रामं भरद्वाजसुतॊ ऽबरवीत आगतं वित्तकामं मां विद्धि दरॊणं दविजर्षभ ॥ १-१५४-९ ॥
'Upon learning this, Bharadwaja's son Drona approached Rama, who was preparing to retire to the forest, and addressed him thus: "O greatest of Brahmanas, know that I am Drona who has come to you seeking your wealth."' ॥ 1-154-9 ॥
english translation
[राम] शरीरमात्रम एवाद्य मयेदम अवशेषितम अस्त्राणि वा शरीरं वा बरह्मन्न अन्यतरं वृणु ॥ १-१५४-१० ॥
'Rama said: "O Brahmana, today I have nothing left but this body of mine. Choose either my celestial weapons or this body, but nothing else remains."' ॥ 1-154-10 ॥
