यतितं वै मया पूर्वं यथा तवं वेत्थ बराह्मणि यतः कषेमं ततॊ गन्तुं तवया तु मम न शरुतम ॥ १-१४५-२६ ॥
'Remember, my dear wife, I once tried to convince you to migrate to a place where we could find happiness, but you did not heed my words then.' ॥ 1-145-26 ॥
english translation
इह जाता विवृद्धास्मि पिता चेह ममेति च उक्तवत्य असि दुर्मेधे याच्यमाना मयासकृत ॥ १-१४५-२७ ॥
'Despite my repeated pleas, you, in your simplicity, insisted, 'I was born here, and here have I grown old; this is my ancestral home.' ॥ 1-145-27 ॥
english translation
सवर्गतॊ हि पिता वृद्धस तथा माता चिरं तव बान्धवा भूतपूर्वाश च तत्र वासे तु का रतिः ॥ १-१४५-२८ ॥
'Your venerable parents, my wife, and all your other relatives have long since passed away. Why did you still choose to remain here?' ॥ 1-145-28 ॥
english translation
सॊ ऽयं ते बन्धुकामाया अशृण्वन्त्या वचॊ मम बन्धुप्रणाशः संप्राप्तॊ भृशं दुःखकरॊ मम ॥ १-१४५-२९ ॥
'Driven by affection for your relatives, you did not heed my advice. Now, however, you are about to witness the death of a loved one.' ॥ 1-145-29 ॥

अथ वा मद विनाशॊ ऽयं न हि शक्ष्यामि कं चन परित्यक्तुम अहं बन्धुं सवयं जीवन नृशंसवत ॥ १-१४५-३० ॥
'Or else, this destruction of mine, I cannot bear to leave any of my kin by myself, like a cruel person.' ॥ 1-145-30 ॥
