[वै] तां विदित्वा चिरगतां हिडिम्बॊ राक्षसेश्वरः अवतीर्य दरुमात तस्माद आजगामाथ पाण्डवान ॥ १-१४०-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana narrated, "Observing that his sister had not returned promptly, Hidimba, the leader of the Rakshasas, descended from the tree and swiftly made his way to where the Pandavas were."' ॥ 1-140-1 ॥
english translation
[vai] tAM viditvA ciragatAM hiDimbò rAkSasezvaraH avatIrya darumAta tasmAda AjagAmAtha pANDavAna ॥ 1-140-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलॊहिताक्षॊ महाबाहुर ऊर्ध्वकेशॊ महाबलः मेघसंघात वर्ष्मा च तीष्क्णदंष्ट्रॊज्ज्वलाननः ॥ १-१४०-२ ॥
'With eyes of crimson hue, powerful arms, hair standing erect, a wide-open mouth, and a body resembling a cluster of dark clouds, with long, sharp teeth, he was a fearsome sight.' ॥ 1-140-2 ॥

lòhitAkSò mahAbAhura Urdhvakezò mahAbalaH meghasaMghAta varSmA ca tISkNadaMSTròjjvalAnanaH ॥ 1-140-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतम आपतन्तं दृट्वैव तथा विकृतदर्शनम हिडिम्बॊवाच वित्रस्ता भीमसेनम इदं वचः ॥ १-१४०-३ ॥
'Seeing her frightful-visaged brother alight from the tree, Hidimba became greatly alarmed and spoke to Bhima.' ॥ 1-140-3 ॥

tama ApatantaM dRTvaiva tathA vikRtadarzanama hiDimbòvAca vitrastA bhImasenama idaM vacaH ॥ 1-140-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptआपतत्य एष दुष्टात्मा संक्रुद्धः पुरुषादकः तवाम अहं भरातृभिः सार्धं यद बरवीमि तथा कुरु ॥ १-१४०-४ ॥
'The wicked cannibal is approaching with anger. I implore you, act with your brothers as I instruct you.' ॥ 1-140-4 ॥

Apatatya eSa duSTAtmA saMkruddhaH puruSAdakaH tavAma ahaM bharAtRbhiH sArdhaM yada baravImi tathA kuru ॥ 1-140-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअहं कामगमा वीर रक्षॊबलसमन्विता आरुहेमां मम शरॊणीं नेष्यामि तवां विहायसा ॥ १-१४०-५ ॥
'O brave one, with the abilities of a Rakshasa, I can go wherever I wish. Climb onto my hips, and I will carry you all through the skies.' ॥ 1-140-5 ॥

ahaM kAmagamA vIra rakSòbalasamanvitA AruhemAM mama zaròNIM neSyAmi tavAM vihAyasA ॥ 1-140-5 ॥
