ते भार्ये कश्यपस्यास्तां कद्रूश च विनता च ह परादात ताभ्यां वरं परीतः परजापतिसमः पतिः कश्यपॊ धर्मपत्नीभ्यां मुदा परमया युतः ॥ १-१४-६ ॥
'Named Kadru and Vinata, they became the wives of Kasyapa. Kasyapa derived great pleasure from his two wedded wives and being gratified he, resembling Prajapati himself, offered to give each of them a boon.'॥ 1-14-6 ॥
english translation
वरातिसर्वं शरुत्वैव कश्यपाद उत्तमं च ते हर्षाद अप्रतिमां परीतिं परापतुः सम वरस्त्रियौ ॥ १-१४-७ ॥
'Hearing that their lord was willing to confer on them their choice blessings, those excellent ladies felt transports of joy.'॥ 1-14-7 ॥
english translation
वव्रे कद्रूः सुतान नागान सहस्रं तुल्यतेजसः दवौ पुत्रौ विनता वव्रे कद्रू पुत्राधिकौ बले ओजसा तेजसा चैव विक्रमेणाधिकौ सुतौ ॥ १-१४-८ ॥
'Kadru wished to have for sons a thousand snakes all of the equal splendor. And Vinata wished to bring forth two sons surpassing the thousand offsprings of Kadru in strength, energy, size of body, and prowess.The two sons, named Ojas and Tejas, were distinguished for their extraordinary prowess.'॥ 1-14-8 ॥

तस्यै भर्ता वरं परादाद अध्यर्थं पुत्रम ईप्सितम एवम अस्त्व इति तं चाह कश्यपं विनता तदा ॥ १-१४-९ ॥
'Vinata, desiring a boon from her husband, Kasyapa, requested him to grant her a son who would be eager to surpass the speed of the wind. Kasyapa agreed to her request, saying, "So be it."'॥ 1-14-9 ॥
english translation
कृतकृत्या तु विनता लब्ध्वा वीर्याधिकौ सुतौ कद्रूश च लब्ध्वा पुत्राणां सहस्रं तुल्यतेजसाम ॥ १-१४-१० ॥
'Vinata, having obtained two powerful sons, Aruna and Garuda, from Kasyapa, and Kadru, also having obtained a thousand sons, equal in splendor, from him as well, felt content and fulfilled.'॥ 1-14-10 ॥
