'The counselors and soldiers of the state, along with their sons and grandsons, have all been nurtured and supported by Pandu.' ॥ 1-130-6 ॥

ते पुरा सत्कृतास तात पाण्डुना पौरवा जनाः कथं युधिष्ठिरस्यार्थे न नॊ हन्युः सबान्धवान ॥ १-१३०-७ ॥
'Considering how we were previously favored by Pandu, dear child, won't the citizens, along with our friends and relatives, refrain from harming us now for Yudhishthira's sake?' ॥ 1-130-7 ॥

[दुर] एवम एतन मया तात भावितं दॊषम आत्मनि दृष्ट्वा परकृतयः सर्वा अर्थमानेन यॊजिताः ॥ १-१३०-८ ॥
'Duryodhana responded, "Indeed, O father, what you have said is entirely true. However, considering the potential threats to your position, if we manage to win over the people by distributing wealth and honors, they will surely align with us, recognizing these as signs of our authority."' ॥ 1-130-8 ॥

धरुवम अस्मत सहायास ते भविष्यन्ति परधानतः अर्थवर्गः सहामात्यॊ मत्संस्थॊ ऽदय महीपते ॥ १-१३०-९ ॥
'Certainly, they will become our foremost allies. Therefore, O king, let the treasury and the ministers be placed under my control today.' ॥ 1-130-9 ॥

स भवान पाण्डवान आशु विवासयितुम अर्हति मृदुनैवाभ्युपायेन नगरं वारणावतम ॥ १-१३०-१० ॥
'Therefore, you should swiftly arrange for the Pandavas to be exiled to the city of Varanavata, using gentle and diplomatic means.' ॥ 1-130-10 ॥
