अराजा किल नॊ राज्ञां सखा भवितुम अर्हति अतः परयतितं राज्ये यज्ञसेन मया तव ॥ १-१२८-११ ॥
'You once told me that only a king can be a friend to another king. Therefore, O Yajnasena, I retain half of your kingdom.' ॥ 1-128-11 ॥
english translation
राजासि दक्षिणे कूले भागीरथ्याहम उत्तरे सखायं मां विजानीहि पाञ्चाल यदि मन्यसे ॥ १-१२८-१२ ॥
'You reign over all the lands situated south of the Bhagirathi, and I over those north of it. Therefore, O Panchala, if it pleases you, regard me henceforth as your friend.' ॥ 1-128-12 ॥

[दरुपद] अनाश्चर्यम इदं बरह्मन विक्रान्तेषु महात्मसु परीये तवयाहं तवत्तश च परीतिम इच्छामि शाश्वतीम ॥ १-१२८-१३ ॥
'Upon hearing this, Drupada responded, 'Your noble soul and great prowess are evident, and thus, O Brahmana, your actions do not surprise me. I am greatly pleased with you and seek your eternal friendship.' ॥ 1-128-13 ॥

[वै] एवम उक्तस तु तं दरॊणॊ मॊक्षयाम आस भारत सत्कृत्य चैनं परीतात्मा राज्यार्धं परत्यपादयत ॥ १-१२८-१४ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, Following this, O Bharata, Drona released the king of Panchala, and with joy, performed the customary acts of respect, granting him half the kingdom.' ॥ 1-128-14 ॥

माकन्दीम अथ गङ्गायास तीरे जनपदायुताम सॊ ऽधयावसद दीनमनाः काम्पिल्यं च पुरॊत्तमम दक्षिणांश चैव पाञ्चालान यावच चर्मण्वती नदी ॥ १-१२८-१५ ॥
'From then on, Drupada sorrowfully resided in Kampilya, situated in Makandi, along the banks of the Ganga, adorned with numerous towns and cities. Following his defeat by Drona, Drupada continued to govern the southern Panchalas up to the Charmanwati River.' ॥ 1-128-15 ॥
