भग्नदर्पं हृतधनं तथा च वशम आगतम स वैरं मनसा धयात्वा दरॊणॊ दरुपदम अब्रवीत ॥ १-१२८-६ ॥
'With his pride shattered, his wealth taken, and brought under control, Drona, contemplating their past enmity, spoke to Drupada.' ॥ 1-128-6 ॥
english translation
परमृद्य तरसा राष्ट्रं पुरं ते मृदितं मया पराप्य जीवन रिपुवशं सखिपूर्वं किम इष्यते ॥ १-१२८-७ ॥
'With utmost force, I have conquered your kingdom and city. Having defeated you and brought you under my control, what do you wish to do, being now at the mercy of your friend and former companion?' ॥ 1-128-7 ॥
english translation
एवम उक्त्वा परहस्यैनं निश्चित्य पुनर अब्रवीत मा भैः पराणभयाद राजन कषमिणॊ बराह्मणा वयम ॥ १-१२८-८ ॥
'Having said this, he smiled slightly and spoke again, "Fear not for your life, brave king! We Brahmanas are ever forgiving."' ॥ 1-128-8 ॥
english translation
आश्रमे करीडितं यत तु तवया बाल्ये मया सह तेन संवर्धितः सनेहस तवया मे कषत्रियर्षभ ॥ १-१२८-९ ॥
'O noblest among Kshatriyas, my affection and love for you have only deepened over the years, stemming from our childhood play together in the hermitage.' ॥ 1-128-9 ॥
english translation
परार्थयेयं तवया सख्यं पुनर एव नरर्षभ वरं ददामि ते राजन राज्यस्यार्धम अवाप्नुहि ॥ १-१२८-१० ॥
'Hence, O king, I seek your friendship once more. And as an unrequested boon, I grant you half of the kingdom that was once yours.' ॥ 1-128-10 ॥
