मुहूर्ताद इव तं दरॊणस तथैव समभाषत पश्यस्य एनं सथितं भासं दरुमं माम अपि वेत्य उत ॥ १-१२३-६१ ॥
'In the very next moment, Drona posed the question to Arjuna, as he had to others, 'Do you see, Arjuna, the bird on the tree, and myself?'' ॥ 1-123-61 ॥
english translation
पश्याम्य एनं भासम इति दरॊणं पार्थॊ ऽभयभाषत न तु वृक्षं भवन्तं वा पश्यामीति च भारत ॥ १-१२३-६२ ॥
'Arjuna confidently replied to Drona, 'I see the bird, teacher, but not the tree or yourself, O Bharata.'' ॥ 1-123-62 ॥
english translation
ततः परीतमना दरॊणॊ मुहूर्ताद इव तं पुनः परत्यभाषत दुर्धर्षः पाण्डवानां रथर्षभम ॥ १-१२३-६३ ॥
'Then, feeling disappointed, Drona once again, as if at an auspicious moment, spoke to the formidable Arjuna, the chief among the Pandavas.' ॥ 1-123-63 ॥

भासं पश्यसि यद्य एनं तथा बरूहि पुनर वचः शिरः पश्यामि भासस्य न गात्रम इति सॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ १-१२३-६४ ॥
'If you see the bird, then tell me so, otherwise speak again. I see only the head of the bird but not its body," he replied.' ॥ 1-123-64 ॥

अर्जुनेनैवम उक्तस तु दरॊणॊ हृष्टतनू रुहः मुञ्चस्वेत्य अब्रवीत पार्थं स मुमॊचाविचारयन ॥ १-१२३-६५ ॥
'Upon hearing Arjuna's words, Drona felt a surge of joy, causing the hair on his body to stand on end. He then instructed Partha, "Take aim and shoot."' ॥ 1-123-65 ॥
