ततॊ दुर्यॊधनादींस तान धार्तराष्ट्रान महायशाः तेनैव करमयॊगेन जिज्ञासुः पर्यपृच्छत ॥ १-१२३-५६ ॥
'Then, with that very weapon, Drona, of great fame, questioned all the sons of Dhritarashtra, headed by Duryodhana.' ॥ 1-123-56 ॥

अन्यांश च शिष्यान भीमादीन राज्ञश चैवान्य देशजान तथा च सर्वे सर्वं तत पश्याम इति कुत्सिताः ॥ १-१२३-५७ ॥
'And he asked other disciples, Bhima, and kings of other lands in the same manner.' ॥ 1-123-57 ॥

ततॊ धनंजयं दरॊणः समयमानॊ ऽभयभाषत तवयेदानीं परहर्तव्यम एतल लक्ष्यं निशम्यताम ॥ १-१२३-५८ ॥
'Vaisampayana said, "When everyone had failed, Drona, smiling, called Arjuna and said to him, 'The target must be shot by you; therefore, turn your eyes to it."' ॥ 1-123-58 ॥

मद्वाक्यसमकालं ते मॊक्तव्यॊ ऽतर भवेच छरः वितत्य कार्मुकं पुत्र तिष्ठ तावन मुहूर्तकम ॥ १-१२३-५९ ॥
'At the moment of my command, you must release your arrow. String your bow, my son, and stand ready for a moment.' ॥ 1-123-59 ॥

एवम उक्तः सव्यसाची मण्डलीकृतकार्मुकः तस्थौ लक्ष्यं समुद्दिश्या गुरुवाक्यप्रचॊदितः ॥ १-१२३-६० ॥
'Thus addressed, the ambidextrous Arjuna, with his bow drawn into a circle, stood aiming at the target, impelled by his teacher's words.' ॥ 1-123-60 ॥
