ततॊ जालपदीं नाम देवकन्यां सुरेश्वरः पराहिणॊत तपसॊ विघ्नं कुरु तस्येति कौरव ॥ १-१२०-६ ॥

'Then, O scion of the Kuru lineage, the king of gods summoned a celestial maiden named Janapadi and dispatched her to Gautama.' ॥ 1-120-6 ॥

tatò jAlapadIM nAma devakanyAM surezvaraH parAhiNòta tapasò vighnaM kuru tasyeti kaurava ॥ 1-120-6 ॥

साभिगम्याश्रमपदं रमणीयं शरद्वतः धनुर बाणधरं बाला लॊभयाम आस गौतमम ॥ १-१२०-७ ॥

'Make every effort to disrupt Gautama's penance." Venturing into the enchanting hermitage of Saradvan, the maiden endeavored to entice the ascetic who wielded a bow and arrows.' ॥ 1-120-7 ॥

sAbhigamyAzramapadaM ramaNIyaM zaradvataH dhanura bANadharaM bAlA lòbhayAma Asa gautamama ॥ 1-120-7 ॥

ताम एकवसनां दृष्ट्वा गौतमॊ ऽपसरसं वने लॊके ऽपरतिमसंस्थानाम उत्फुल्लनयनॊ ऽभवत ॥ १-१२०-८ ॥

'Beholding that Apsara, unmatched in beauty on earth, wandering alone in the woods and adorned in a single garment, Saradvan's eyes widened with delight.' ॥ 1-120-8 ॥

'Upon seeing the damsel, his bow and arrows slipped from his grasp, and his entire body trembled with emotion.' ॥ 1-120-9 ॥

स तु जञानगरीयस्त्वात तपसश च समन्वयात अवतस्थे महाप्राज्ञॊ धैर्येण परमेण ह ॥ १-१२०-१० ॥

'Despite the temptation, the sage, endowed with ascetic fortitude and strength of soul, summoned enough patience to withstand it.' ॥ 1-120-10 ॥
