याजकैर अभ्यनुज्ञातं परेतकर्मणि निष्ठितैः घृतावसिक्तं राजानं सह माद्र्या सवलंकृतम ॥ १-११८-२१ ॥
'With the permission of the priests, well-versed in funeral rites, the king, anointed with clarified butter, was adorned alongside Madri.' ॥ 1-118-21 ॥
english translation
yAjakaira abhyanujJAtaM paretakarmaNi niSThitaiH ghRtAvasiktaM rAjAnaM saha mAdryA savalaMkRtama ॥ 1-118-21 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतुङ्गपद्मकमिश्रेण चन्दनेन सुगन्धिना अन्यैश च विविधैर गन्धैर अनल्पैः समदाहयन ॥ १-११८-२२ ॥
'When the other funeral ceremonies also were finished in consonance with the directions of the priests, the Kauravas set fire to the dead bodies of the king and the queen, bringing lotuses, sandal-paste, and other fragrant substances to the pyre.' ॥ 1-118-22 ॥

tuGgapadmakamizreNa candanena sugandhinA anyaiza ca vividhaira gandhaira analpaiH samadAhayana ॥ 1-118-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस तयॊः शरीरे ते दृष्ट्वा मॊहवशं गता हाहा पुत्रेति कौसल्या पपात सहसा भुवि ॥ १-११८-२३ ॥
'Then seeing the bodies aflame, Kausalya burst out, 'O my son, my son!'--and fell senseless on the ground.' ॥ 1-118-23 ॥

tasa tayòH zarIre te dRSTvA mòhavazaM gatA hAhA putreti kausalyA papAta sahasA bhuvi ॥ 1-118-23 ॥

'And seeing her down the citizens and the inhabitants of the provinces began to wail from grief and affection for their king.' ॥ 1-118-24 ॥
