तं तॊषयित्वा तपसा पुत्रं लप्स्ये महाबलम यं दास्यति स मे पुत्रं स वरीयान भविष्यति कर्मणा मनसा वाचा तस्मात तप्स्ये महत तपः ॥ १-११४-१८ ॥
'I shall please him through my asceticism and obtain from him a son of immense strength. Indeed, the son bestowed upon me by him must surpass all others and possess the ability to conquer in battle both men and beings beyond men. Thus, I shall engage in the most rigorous austerities, through actions, thoughts, and words.' ॥ 1-114-18 ॥
