अस्मिंस तु लॊके नचिरान मर्यादेयं शुचिस्मिते सथापिता येन यस्माच च तन मे विस्तरतः शृणु ॥ १-११३-८ ॥

sanskrit

'Indeed, that ancient custom, so accommodating to women, has the sanction of antiquity. However, the present practice (of women being confined to one husband for life) has been established only recently. I shall explain to you in detail who established it and why.' ॥ 1-113-8 ॥

english translation

asmiMsa tu lòke nacirAna maryAdeyaM zucismite sathApitA yena yasmAca ca tana me vistarataH zRNu ॥ 1-113-8 ॥
