दृष्टवन्तॊ गिरेर अस्य दुर्गान देशान बहून वयम आक्रीडभूतान देवानां गन्धर्वाप्सरसां तथा ॥ १-१११-६ ॥
'In our northward march, while gradually ascending the king of mountains, we have seen on its delightful breast many regions inaccessible to ordinary mortals; retreats also of the gods, and Gandharvas and Apsaras.' ॥ 1-111-6 ॥
english translation
उद्यानानि कुबेरस्य समानि विषमाणि च महानदी नितम्बांश च दुर्गांश च गिरिगह्वरान ॥ १-१११-७ ॥
'Surrounded by hundreds of opulent mansions, resonating with the melodious tunes of celestial music, were the gardens akin to those of Kubera, arranged on both even and uneven terrains, along with the banks of mighty rivers and deep caverns.' ॥ 1-111-7 ॥
english translation
सन्ति नित्यहिमा देशा निर्वृक्ष मृगपक्षिणः सन्ति के चिन महावर्षा दुर्गाः के चिद दुरासदाः ॥ १-१११-८ ॥
'There are many regions also on those heights that are covered with perpetual snow and are utterly destitute of vegetable and animal existence. In some places, the downpour of rain is so heavy that they are perfectly inaccessible and incapable of being utilized for habitation.' ॥ 1-111-8 ॥

अतिक्रामेन न पक्षी यान कुत एवेतरे मृगाः वायुर एकॊ ऽतिगाद यत्र सिद्धाश च परमर्षयः ॥ १-१११-९ ॥
'No winged creatures, let alone other animals, can traverse them. Only the wind can pass through, and the inhabitants are only Siddhas and great Rishis.' ॥ 1-111-9 ॥

गच्छन्त्यौ शैलराजे ऽसमिन राजपुत्र्यौ कथं तव इमे न सीदेताम अदुःखार्हे मा गमॊ भरतर्षभ ॥ १-१११-१० ॥
'How will these princesses ascend the towering peaks of the king of mountains? Being unaccustomed to hardship, won't they suffer in pain? Hence, do not accompany us, O descendant of Bharata's lineage!.' ॥ 1-111-10 ॥
