'Pleased with her devoted service, the sage Durvasa, foreseeing the future hardships arising from a curse that would befall Pandu for his wrongful act of killing a mating deer, bestowed upon her a powerful mantra. This mantra would enable her to summon any celestial being of her choosing to beget children, thus providing a means to mitigate the impending distress.' ॥ 1-104-6 ॥
