मृगव्यवाय निधने कृच्छ्रां पराप स आपदम जन्मप्रभृति पार्थानां तत्राचार विधिक्रमः ॥ १-१-६८॥
'During a hunting expedition, he brought upon himself a very severe misfortune for having killed a stag coupling with its mate, from that incident onwards, various events unfolded in the lives of the sons of Pritha (Pandu), marked by twists of fate and the unfolding of destiny.' ॥ 1-1-68 ॥
