तेषु जातेषु वृद्धेषु गतेषु परमां गतिम अब्रवीद भारतं लॊके मानुषे ऽसमिन महान ऋषिः ।। १-१-५६।।

'It was not till after they were born, grown up, and departed on the supreme journey, that the great Rishi Vyasa published the Bharata in this region of mankind.' ।। 1-1-56 ।।

'When being solicited by Janamejaya and thousands of Brahmanas, he instructed his disciple Vaisampayana, who was seated near him.' ।। 1-1-57 ।।

'Vyasa has eloquently depicted the magnificence of the Kuru lineage, the virtuous ideals upheld by Gandhari, the wisdom embodied by Vidura, and the unwavering resolve of Kunti' ।। 1-1-59 ।।

'The noble Rishi hath also described the divinity of Vasudeva, the rectitude of the sons of Pandu, and the evil practices of the sons and partisans of Dhritarashtra.' ।। 1-1-60 ।।
