यदाश्रौषं बरह्मशिरॊ ऽरजुनेन मुक्तं; सवस्तीत्य अस्त्रम अस्त्रेण शान्तम अश्वत्थाम्ना मणिरत्नं च दत्तं; तदा नाशंसे विजयाय संजय ।। १-१-१५५ ।।

sanskrit

'When I heard that the weapon Brahmashira (discharged by Aswatthaman) was repelled by Arjuna with another weapon over which he had pronounced the word "Sasti" and that Aswatthaman had to give up the jewel-like excrescence on his head, O Sanjaya, I had no hope of success.' ।। 1-1-155 ।।

english translation

yadAzrauSaM barahmazirò 'rajunena muktaM; savastItya astrama astreNa zAntama azvatthAmnA maNiratnaM ca dattaM; tadA nAzaMse vijayAya saMjaya || 1-1-155 ||
