तं तु राजा बलिर नाम सर्वधर्मविशारदः अपश्यन मज्जन गतः सरॊतसाभ्याशम आगतम ॥ १-९८-२१ ॥
'King Bali, known for his profound understanding of all duties, saw him as he was coming to the shore, having drifted in the waters.' ॥ 1-98-21 ॥
english translation
जग्राह चैनं धर्मात्मा बलिः सत्यपराक्रमः जञात्वा चैनं स वव्रे ऽथ पुत्रार्थं मनुजर्षभ ॥ १-९८-२२ ॥
'While the monarch was occupied with this, the raft to which the sage was tied drifted towards him. As it approached, the king rescued the old man. Vali, devoted to truth, upon learning the identity of the man he had saved, then selected him for begetting offspring.' ॥ 1-98-22 ॥
english translation
संतानार्थं महाभाग भार्यासु मम मानद पुत्रान धर्मार्थकुशलान उत्पादयितुम अर्हसि ॥ १-९८-२३ ॥
'Vali implored, "O esteemed sage, I earnestly request you to bless my queen with sons who are both virtuous and wise."' ॥ 1-98-23 ॥

एवम उक्तः स तेजस्वी तं तथेत्य उक्तवान ऋषिः तस्मै स राजा सवां भार्यां सुदेष्णां पराहिणॊत तदा ॥ १-९८-२४ ॥
'Upon hearing these words, the sage, endowed with great energy, agreed. King Vali then sent his wife Sudeshna to him.' ॥ 1-98-24 ॥

अन्धं वृद्धं च तं मत्वा न सा देवी जगाम ह सवां तु धात्रेयिकां तस्मै वृद्धाय पराहिणॊत तदा ॥ १-९८-२५ ॥
'But the queen knowing that the latter was blind and old went not unto him, she sent her nurse.' ॥ 1-98-25 ॥
