[व] इक्ष्वाकुवंशप्रभवॊ राजासीत पृथिवीपतिः महाभिष इति खयातः सत्यवाक सत्यविक्रमः ॥ १-९१-१
'Vaisampayana said, 'There was a king known by the name of Mahabhisha born in the race of Ikshvaku. He was the lord of all the earth, and was truthful (in speech) and of true prowess.'' ॥ 1-91-1 ॥
english translation
[va] ikSvAkuvaMzaprabhavò rAjAsIta pRthivIpatiH mahAbhiSa iti khayAtaH satyavAka satyavikramaH ॥ 1-91-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसॊ ऽशवमेध सहस्रेण वाजपेयशतेन च तॊषयाम आस देवेन्द्रं सवर्गं लेभे ततः परभुः ॥ १-९१-२
'By a thousand horse sacrifices and a hundred Rajasuyas, he had gratified the chief of the celestials and ultimately attained heaven.' ॥ 1-91-2 ॥
english translation
sò 'zavamedha sahasreNa vAjapeyazatena ca tòSayAma Asa devendraM savargaM lebhe tataH parabhuH ॥ 1-91-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततः कदा चिद बरह्माणम उपासां चक्रिरे सुराः तत्र राजर्षयॊ आसन स च राजा महाभिषः ॥ १-९१-३
'One day the celestials had assembled and were worshipping Brahman. Many royal sages and king Mahabhisha were also present on the spot.' ॥ 1-91-3 ॥

tataH kadA cida barahmANama upAsAM cakrire surAH tatra rAjarSayò Asana sa ca rAjA mahAbhiSaH ॥ 1-91-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ गङ्गा सरिच्छ्रेष्ठा समुपायात पितामहम तस्या वासः समुद्भूतं मारुतेन शशिप्रभम ॥ १-९१-४
'Then Ganga, the foremost of rivers, approached Brahma, the grandsire. A breeze arose, revealing her celestial form, radiant as the moon.' ॥ 1-91-4 ॥

atha gaGgA saricchreSThA samupAyAta pitAmahama tasyA vAsaH samudbhUtaM mArutena zaziprabhama ॥ 1-91-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततॊ ऽभवन सुरगणाः सहसावाङ्मुखास तदा महाभिषस तु राजर्षिर अशङ्कॊ दृष्टवान नदीम ॥ १-९१-५
'And as her person became exposed, the celestials bent down their heads. But the royal sage Mahabhisha rudely stared at the queen of rivers.' ॥ 1-91-5 ॥

tatò 'bhavana suragaNAH sahasAvAGmukhAsa tadA mahAbhiSasa tu rAjarSira azaGkò dRSTavAna nadIma ॥ 1-91-5
