देवताः पितरस तस्मात पितरश चापि देवताः एकीभूताश च पूज्यन्ते पृथक्त्वेन च पर्वसु ॥ १-७-९॥

sanskrit

'The deities are the ancestors, and the ancestors are also the deities. Therefore, they are worshipped as one, yet separately during specific occasions.'॥ 1-7-9 ॥

english translation

devatAH pitarasa tasmAta pitaraza cApi devatAH ekIbhUtAza ca pUjyante pRthaktvena ca parvasu ॥ 1-7-9॥
