गणात करॊधवशाद एवं राजपूगॊ ऽभवत कषितौ जातः पुरा महाराज महाकीर्तिर महाबलः ॥ १-६१-६१ ॥
'From the group descended from Krodhavasha, thus was born a royal lineage upon the earth. O great king, born in the past was the greatly famous and powerful Maharaja.' ॥ 1-61-61 ॥
english translation
यस तव आसीद देवकॊ नाम देवराजसमद्युतिः स गन्धर्वपतिर मुख्यः कषितौ जज्ञे नराधिपः ॥ १-६१-६२ ॥
'And he who was known among the Asuras by the name of Devaka and was besides in splendour like unto Indra himself, was born on earth as the foremost king of the Gandharvas.' ॥ 1-61-62 ॥
english translation
बृहस्पतेर बृहत कीर्तेर देवर्षेर विद्धि भारत अंशाद दरॊणं समुत्पन्नं भारद्वाजम अयॊनिजम ॥ १-६१-६३ ॥
'And, O monarch, know thou that Drona, the son of Bharadwaja, not born of any woman, sprung from a portion of the celestial Rishi Vrihaspati of grand achievements.' ॥ 1-61-63 ॥
english translation
धन्विनां नृपशार्दूल यः स सर्वास्त्रवित्तमः बृहत कीर्तिर महातेजाः संजज्ञे मनुजेष्व इह ॥ १-६१-६४ ॥
'And he was the prince of all bowmen, conversant with all weapons, of mighty achievements, of great energy.' ॥ 1-61-64 ॥
english translation
धनुर्वेदे च वेदे च यं तं वेदविदॊ विदुः वरिष्ठम इन्द्रकर्माणं दरॊणं सवकुलवर्धनम ॥ १-६१-६५ ॥
'You should know that he was proficient in both the Vedas and the science of arms, exhibiting remarkable deeds and standing as the pride of his lineage.' ॥ 1-61-65 ॥
