कथं नागायुत पराणॊ बाहुशाली वृकॊदरः परिक्लिश्यन्न अपि करॊधं धृतवान वै दविजॊत्तम ॥ १-५६-६ ॥
'Why, O esteemed Brahmana, did Bhima, possessing mighty arms and the strength of ten thousand elephants, restrain his anger despite being wronged?' ॥ 1-56-6 ॥
english translation
कथं सा दरौपदी कृष्णा कलिश्यमाना दुरात्मभिः शक्ता सती धार्तराष्ट्रान नादहद घॊरचक्षुषा ॥ १-५६-७ ॥
'Why also did the chaste Krishna, the daughter of Drupada, wronged by those wretches and able to burn them, not burn the sons of Dhritarashtra with her wrathful eyes?' ॥ 1-56-7 ॥
english translation
कथं वयतिक्रमन दयूते पार्थौ माद्री सुतौ तथा अनुव्रजन नरव्याघ्रं वञ्च्यमानं दुरात्मभिः ॥ १-५६-८ ॥
'Why also did the two other sons of Pritha (Bhima and Arjuna) and the two sons of Madri (Nakula and Sahadeva), themselves injured by the wretched Kurus, follow Yudhishthira who was greatly addicted to the evil habit of gambling?' ॥ 1-56-8 ॥
english translation
कथं धर्मभृतां शरेष्ठः सुतॊ धर्मस्य धर्मवित अनर्हः परमं कलेशं सॊढवान स युधिष्ठिरः ॥ १-५६-९ ॥
'Why also did Yudhishthira, that foremost of all virtuous men, the son of Dharma himself, fully acquainted with all duties, suffer that excess of affliction?' ॥ 1-56-9 ॥
english translation
कथं च बहुलाः सेनाः पाण्डवः कृष्णसारथिः अस्यन्न एकॊ ऽनयत सर्वाः पितृलॊकं धनंजयः ॥ १-५६-१० ॥
'Why did Dhananjaya, the Pandava, with Krishna as his charioteer, endure such persecution, even though he, with his arrows, dispatched that fearless army of warriors to the other world?' ॥ 1-56-10 ॥
