अस्मिन्न अर्थश च धर्मश च निखिलेनॊपदिश्यते इतिहासे महापुण्ये बुद्धिश च परिनैष्ठिकी ।। १-५६-१६ ।।

'It contains much useful instruction on Artha and Kama (profit and pleasure). This sacred history maketh the heart desire for salvation.' ।। 1-56-16 ।।

'Learned persons by reciting this Veda of Krishna-Dwaipayana to those that are liberal, truthful and believing, earn much wealth.' ।। 1-56-17 ।।

भरूण हत्या कृतं चापि पापं जह्याद असंशयम इतिहासम इमं शरुत्वा पुरुषॊ ऽपि सुदारुणः ।। १-५६-१८ ।।

'Sins, such as killing the embryo in the womb, are destroyed assuredly by this. A person, however cruel and sinful, by hearing this history, escapes from all his sins like the Sun from Rahu (after the eclipse is over).' ।। 1-56-18 ।।

bharUNa hatyA kRtaM cApi pApaM jahyAda asaMzayama itihAsama imaM zarutvA puruSò 'pi sudAruNaH || 1-56-18 ||

इदं पुंसवनं शरेष्ठम इदं सवस्त्य अयनं महत महिषी युवराजाभ्यां शरॊतव्यं बहुशस तथा ।। १-५६-२० ।।

'A king by hearing it may bring the whole world under subjection and conquer all his foes. This history in itself is a mighty act of propitiation, a mighty sacrifice productive of blessed fruit. It should always be heard by a young monarch with his queen, for then they beget a heroic son or a daughter to occupy a throne.' ।। 1-56-20 ।।
