[स] तैश चाप्य उक्तॊ भागिनेयः परसन्नैर; एतत सत्यं कामम एवं चरन्तः परीत्या युक्ता ईप्सितं सर्वशस ते; कर्तारः सम परवणा भागिनेय ।। १-५३-२१ ।।

'And when I am mentioned to those who are performing sacrifices, let them, with pleased hearts, express these words, 'This is the truth, this is the desire of the one who has so acted.' Those sisters, acting in this way, with respect, should share everything alike with the doer." ।। 1-53-21 ।।

english translation

[sa] taiza cApya uktò bhAgineyaH parasannaira; etata satyaM kAmama evaM carantaH parItyA yuktA IpsitaM sarvazasa te; kartAraH sama paravaNA bhAgineya || 1-53-21 ||

जरत्कारॊर जरत्कार्वां समुत्पन्नॊ महायशाः आस्तीकः सत्यसंधॊ मां पन्नगेभ्यॊ ऽभिरक्षतु ।। १-५३-२२ ।।

'Sauti said, 'The virtuous Janamejaya then, thus addressed by Astika, replied, 'So be it,' and then uttered the word 'Stay' at the snake-sacrifice, from day to day, as he met with the names of the snakes. And all the snakes began to fall into the fire as soon as their names were uttered by the king.'" ।। 1-53-22 ।।

jaratkAròra jaratkArvAM samutpannò mahAyazAH AstIkaH satyasaMdhò mAM pannagebhyò 'bhirakSatu || 1-53-22 ||

असितं चार्तिमन्तं च सुनीथं चापि यः समरेत दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ नास्य सर्पभयं भवेत ।। १-५३-२३ ।।

'That which thou askest we all shall cheerfully do, O nephew! And those also that call to mind Astika, Artiman, and Sunitha, in the day or the night, shall have no fear of snakes.' ।। 1-53-23 ।।

english translation

asitaM cArtimantaM ca sunIthaM cApi yaH samareta divA vA yadi vA rAtrau nAsya sarpabhayaM bhaveta || 1-53-23 ||

[स] मॊक्षयित्वा स भुजगान सर्पसत्राद दविजॊत्तमः जगाम काले धर्मात्मा दिष्टान्तं पुत्रपौत्रवान ।। १-५३-२४ ।।

'Having saved the snakes from the snake-sacrifice, that righteous and virtuous Brahmana, the best among twice-born, departed at the appointed time, leaving behind a legacy of sons and grandsons.' ।। 1-53-24 ।।

english translation

[sa] mòkSayitvA sa bhujagAna sarpasatrAda davijòttamaH jagAma kAle dharmAtmA diSTAntaM putrapautravAna || 1-53-24 ||

इत्य आख्यानं मयास्तीकं यथावत कीर्तितं तव यत कीर्तयित्वा सर्पेभ्यॊ न भयं विद्यते कव चित ।। १-५३-२५ ।।

'The narrative of Astika has been recounted by me in its entirety. Having heard this story, there is no fear for snakes among those who recite it.' ।। 1-53-25 ।।

itya AkhyAnaM mayAstIkaM yathAvata kIrtitaM tava yata kIrtayitvA sarpebhyò na bhayaM vidyate kava cita || 1-53-25 ||
