तम इन्द्रः पराह सुप्रीतॊ न तवास्तीह तक्षक भयं नागेन्द्र तस्माद वै सर्पसत्रात कथं चन ॥ १-४८-१६ ॥
'Indra, pleased, addressed him saying, "O Takshaka, ruler of serpents, you need not fear the serpent sacrifice here."' ॥ 1-48-16 ॥
english translation
परसादितॊ मया पूर्वं तवार्थाय पितामहः तस्मात तव भयं नास्ति वयेतु ते मानसॊ जवरः ॥ १-४८-१७ ॥
'I appeased the Grandsire on your behalf; hence, you need not worry. Let this anxiety in your heart be assuaged.' ॥ 1-48-17 ॥
english translation
एवम आश्वासितस तेन ततः स भुजगॊत्तमः उवास भवने तत्र शक्रस्य मुदितः सुखी ॥ १-४८-१८ ॥
'Sauti continued, 'Thus encouraged by him, that best of snakes began to dwell in Indra's abode in joy and happiness.' ॥ 1-48-18 ॥

अजस्रं निपतत्स्व अग्नौ नागेषु भृशदुःखितः अल्पशेष परीवारॊ वासुकिः पर्यतप्यत ॥ १-४८-१९ ॥
' But Vasuki, seeing that the snakes were incessantly falling into the fire and that his family was reduced to only a few, became exceedingly sorry.' ॥ 1-48-19 ॥
english translation
कश्मलं चाविशद घॊरं वासुकिं पन्नगेश्वरम स घूर्णमान हृदयॊ भगिनीम इदम अब्रवीत ॥ १-४८-२० ॥
'And the king of the snakes was afflicted with great grief, and his heart was about to break. And summoning his sister, he spoke unto her.' ॥ 1-48-20 ॥
