यानि पश्यसि वै बरह्मन मूलानीहास्य वीरुधः एते नस्तन्तवस तात कालेन परिभक्षिताः ।। १-४१-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'O Brahmana, the virana root cord you witness, to which we are clinging, symbolizes the continuity of our multiplied lineage. Those threads of the virana root cord you perceive as gnawed away represent us, consumed by the inexorable passage of Time.' ।। 1-41-23 ।।

english translation

yAni pazyasi vai barahmana mUlAnIhAsya vIrudhaH ete nastantavasa tAta kAlena paribhakSitAH || 1-41-23 ||
