नृपं शिशुं तस्य सुतं परचक्रिरे; समेत्य सर्वे पुरवासिनॊ जनाः नृपं यम आहुस तम अमित्रघातिनं; कुरुप्रवीरं जनमेजयं जनाः ।। १-४०-६ ।।

sanskrit

'All the citizens, assembling, made the minor son of the deceased monarch their king. And the people called their new king, that slayer of all enemies, that hero of the Kuru race, by the name of Janamejaya.' ।। 1-40-6 ।।

english translation

nRpaM zizuM tasya sutaM paracakrire; sametya sarve puravAsinò janAH nRpaM yama Ahusa tama amitraghAtinaM; kurupravIraM janamejayaM janAH || 1-40-6 ||
