एते पराधान्यतॊ नागाः कीर्तिता दविजसत्तम बहुत्वान नामधेयानाम इतरे न परकीर्तिताः ॥ १-३१-१६ ॥
'Thus, O best of regenerate ones, have I said the names of the principal serpents. From fear of being tedious I do not give names of the rest.' ॥ 1-31-16 ॥
english translation
ete parAdhAnyatò nAgAH kIrtitA davijasattama bahutvAna nAmadheyAnAma itare na parakIrtitAH ॥ 1-31-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतेषां परसवॊ यश च परसवस्य च संततिः असंख्येयेति मत्वा तान न बरवीमि दविजॊत्तम ॥ १-३१-१७ ॥
'O ascetic one, the progeny of these snakes, along with their descendants, is countless. Contemplating this, I refrain from listing them all to you.' ॥ 1-31-17 ॥

eteSAM parasavò yaza ca parasavasya ca saMtatiH asaMkhyeyeti matvA tAna na baravImi davijòttama ॥ 1-31-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptबहूनीह सहस्राणि परयुतान्य अर्बुदानि च अशक्यान्य एव संख्यातुं भुजगानां तपॊधन ॥ १-३१-१८ ॥
'O esteemed ascetics, the count of snakes in this world is beyond calculation, with their numbers extending into the thousands and millions.' ॥ 1-31-18 ॥
