एवं पितुश चापचितिं गतवांस तवं भविष्यसि मम परियं च सुमहत कृतं राजन भविष्यति ॥ १-३-१९१ ॥

'By carrying out this act, you will exact revenge for your father's death, and you will also confer upon me a profound favor.' ॥ 1-3-191 ॥

evaM pituza cApacitiM gatavAMsa tavaM bhaviSyasi mama pariyaM ca sumahata kRtaM rAjana bhaviSyati ॥ 1-3-191 ॥

कर्मणः पृथिवीपाल मम येन दुरात्मना विघ्नः कृतॊ महाराज गुर्वर्थं चरतॊ ऽनघ ॥ १-३-१९२ ॥

'Indeed, O virtuous Prince, that malicious serpent obstructed my mission while I was on my way due to my preceptor's instructions.' ॥ 1-3-192 ॥

karmaNaH pRthivIpAla mama yena durAtmanA vighnaH kRtò mahArAja gurvarthaM caratò 'nagha ॥ 1-3-192 ॥

एतच छरुत्वा तु नृपतिस तक्षकस्य चुकॊप ह उत्तङ्क वाक्यहविषा दीप्तॊ ऽगनिर हविषा यथा ॥ १-३-१९३ ॥

'The monarch, having heard these words, burned with wrath against Takshaka. Utanka's words had the power to stir the king's emotions, and he now harbored deep anger towards Takshaka.' ॥ 1-3-193 ॥

etaca charutvA tu nRpatisa takSakasya cukòpa ha uttaGka vAkyahaviSA dIptò 'ganira haviSA yathA ॥ 1-3-193 ॥

अपृच्छच च तदा राजा मन्त्रिणः सवान सुदुःखितः उत्तङ्कस्यैव सांनिध्ये पितुः सवर्गगतिं परति ॥ १-३-१९४ ॥

'Moved by grief also, in the presence of Utanka, the prince asked his ministers the particulars of his father's attainment of heaven.' ॥ 1-3-194 ॥

apRcchaca ca tadA rAjA mantriNaH savAna suduHkhitaH uttaGkasyaiva sAMnidhye pituH savargagatiM parati ॥ 1-3-194 ॥

तदैव हि स राजेन्द्रॊ दुःखशॊकाप्लुतॊ ऽभवत यदैव पितरं वृत्तम उत्तङ्काद अशृणॊत तदा ॥ १-३-१९५ ॥

'And when he heard all about the circumstances of his father's death from the lips of Utanka, he was overcome with pain and sorrow.' ॥ 1-3-195 ॥
