[वै] एवम उक्तॊ भरातृभिस तु जरितारिर बिभावसुम तुष्टाव पराञ्जलिर भूत्वा यथा तच छृणु पार्थिव ॥ १-२२३-६ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Having spoken to each other in this manner, the sons of Mandapala then each devoutly offered a eulogistic hymn to Agni. Now, listen, O monarch, as I recite those hymns to you."' ॥ 1-223-6 ॥
english translation
[जरितारि] आत्मासि वायॊः पवनः शरीरम उत वीरुधाम यॊनिर आपश च ते शुक्रयॊनिस तवम असि चाम्भसः ॥ १-२२३-७ ॥
'Jaritari extolled Agni's omnipresence, proclaiming, "O Fire God, you are the essence of wind, the life force of plants, the origin of waters and light, born from the primordial waters, pervading all elements of nature."' ॥ 1-223-7 ॥
english translation
ऊर्ध्वं चाधश च गच्छन्ति विसर्पन्ति च पार्श्वतः अर्चिषस ते महावीर्यरश्मयः सवितुर यथा ॥ १-२२३-८ ॥
'O mighty one, your flames, like the rays of the sun, spread above, below, behind, and on every side.' ॥ 1-223-8 ॥
english translation
[सारिसृक्व] माता परपन्ना पितरं न विद्मः; पक्षाश च नॊ न परजाताब्ज केतॊ न नस तराता विद्यते ऽगने तवदन्यस; तस्माद धि नः परिरक्षैक वीर ॥ १-२२३-९ ॥
'Sarisrikka said, "O smoke-bannered god, our mother is unseen, and our father is unknown! Our feathers have not yet grown. We have no one to protect us but you. Therefore, O Agni, protect us, helpless as we are!"' ॥ 1-223-9 ॥
english translation
यद अग्ने ते शिवं रूपं ये च ते सप्त हेतवः तेन नः परिरक्षाद्य ईडितः शरणैषिणः ॥ १-२२३-१० ॥
'O Agni, in our distress, protect us with your auspicious form and with your seven flames!' ॥ 1-223-10 ॥
