[दरॊण] विद्म ते भावदॊषेण यदर्थम इदम उच्यते दुष्टः पाण्डव हेतॊस तवं दॊषं खयापयसे हि नः ॥ १-१९६-२६ ॥
'Drona speaking, "We know through your words and faults why this is being said. You wicked Pandava, on account of enmity towards us, You are indeed making us out to be at fault."' ॥ 1-196-26 ॥
english translation
हितं तु परमं कर्ण बरवीमि कुरुवर्धनम अथ तवं मन्यसे दुष्टं बरूहि यत परमं हितम ॥ १-१९६-२७ ॥
'You criticize us to harm the Pandavas, Karna. However, understand that my words are aimed at the well-being of everyone and the prosperity of the Kuru dynasty.' ॥ 1-196-27 ॥

अतॊ ऽनयथा चेत करियते यद बरवीमि परं हितम कुरवॊ विनशिष्यन्ति नचिरेणेति मे मतिः ॥ १-१९६-२८ ॥
'If you consider all this as leading to harm, then state what you believe is beneficial for us. If the good counsel I have offered is not heeded, I foresee the Kurus facing imminent extinction.' ॥ 1-196-28 ॥
