सा चाप्य उक्तवती वाचं भैक्षवद भुज्यताम इति तस्माद एतद अहं मन्ये धर्मं दविज वरॊत्तम ॥ १-१८८-१६ ॥
'Even she has commanded us to treat Draupadi as we would anything obtained as alms. Therefore, O best of Brahmanas, I consider this proposed act as virtuous.' ॥ 1-188-16 ॥
english translation
[कुन्ती] एवम एतद यथाहायं धर्मचारी युधिष्ठिरः अनृतान मे भयं तीव्रं मुच्येयम अनृतात कथम ॥ १-१८८-१७ ॥
'Kunti then said, "The action is indeed as Yudhishthira, the virtuous one, has described. O Brahmana, I am greatly afraid that my words might become untrue. How can I be saved from falsehood?"' ॥ 1-188-17 ॥
english translation
[वयास] अनृतान मॊक्ष्यसे भद्रे धर्मश चैव सनातनः न तु वक्ष्यामि सर्वेषां पाञ्चाल शृणु मे सवयम ॥ १-१८८-१८ ॥
'Vyasa said, "O gentle one, you shall be released from falsehoods, for dharma itself is eternal. However, I shall not speak of it for all, O Princess of Panchala, hear it from me directly."' ॥ 1-188-18 ॥
english translation
यथायं विहितॊ धर्मॊ यतश चायं सनातनः यथा च पराह कौन्तेयस तथा धर्मॊ न संशयः ॥ १-१८८-१९ ॥
'As this dharma (righteous path) has been laid down, as it is indeed eternal, And as the son of Kunti (Arjuna) has proclaimed it, so there is no doubt that this is dharma.' ॥ 1-188-19 ॥
english translation
[वै] तत उत्थाय भगवान वयासॊ दवैपायनः परभुः करे गृहीत्वा राजानं राजवेश्म समाविशत ॥ १-१८८-२० ॥
'Vaisampayana continued, "Then the illustrious Vyasa, the master Dwaipayana, rose and, taking Drupada by the hand, led him to a private apartment."' ॥ 1-188-20 ॥
