तत उत्कॊचनं तीर्थं गत्वा धौम्याश्रमं तु ते तं वव्रुः पाण्डवा धौम्यं पौरॊहित्याय भारत ॥ १-१७४-६ ॥
'After that, O Bharata, the Pandavas proceeded to Utkochaka, the sacred asylum of Dhaumya, and installed Dhaumya as their priest.' ॥ 1-174-6 ॥
english translation
tata utkòcanaM tIrthaM gatvA dhaumyAzramaM tu te taM vavruH pANDavA dhaumyaM pauròhityAya bhArata ॥ 1-174-6 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतान धौम्यः परतिजग्राह सर्ववेदविदां वरः पाद्येन फलमूलेन पौरॊहित्येन चैव ह ॥ १-१७४-७ ॥
'Those (duties), Dhaumya, the foremost among all knowers of the Vedas, accepted - with arghya (offering of respects), fruits and roots, and also with the role of purohita (chief priest).' ॥ 1-174-7 ॥
english translation
tAna dhaumyaH paratijagrAha sarvavedavidAM varaH pAdyena phalamUlena pauròhityena caiva ha ॥ 1-174-7 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptते तदाशंसिरे लब्धां शरियं राज्यं च पाण्डवाः तं बराह्मणं पुरस्कृत्य पाञ्चाल्याश च सवयंवरम ॥ १-१७४-८ ॥
'With their mother Kunti making up the sixth member, the Pandavas considered their sovereignty and kingdom as already regained, and Draupadi, the daughter of the Panchala king, as already won in the Swayamvara.' ॥ 1-174-8 ॥

te tadAzaMsire labdhAM zariyaM rAjyaM ca pANDavAH taM barAhmaNaM puraskRtya pAJcAlyAza ca savayaMvarama ॥ 1-174-8 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमातृषष्ठास तु ते तेन गुरुणा संगतास तदा नाथवन्तम इवात्मानं मेनिरे भरतर्षभाः ॥ १-१७४-९ ॥
'Having secured the master Dhaumya as their priest, those illustrious scions of the Bharata race also considered themselves under the guardianship of a powerful protector.' ॥ 1-174-9 ॥

mAtRSaSThAsa tu te tena guruNA saMgatAsa tadA nAthavantama ivAtmAnaM menire bharatarSabhAH ॥ 1-174-9 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस हि वेदार्थ तत्त्वज्ञस तेषां गुरुर उदारधीः तेन धर्मविदा पार्था याज्याः सर्वविदा कृताः ॥ १-१७४-१० ॥
'And the high-souled Dhaumya, well-versed in the true meaning of the Vedas and every principle of morality, became the spiritual preceptor of the virtuous Pandavas, making them his Yajamanas (spiritual disciples).' ॥ 1-174-10 ॥
