ततॊ दवादश वर्षाणि पुनर ईजे नराधिपः पत्न्या तपत्या सहितॊ यथा शक्रॊ मरुत्पतिः ॥ १-१६३-२१ ॥

'For twelve years, the king and his wife Tapati performed sacrifices, just as Indra, the lord of the Maruts, does.' ॥ 1-163-21 ॥

english translation

tatò davAdaza varSANi punara Ije narAdhipaH patnyA tapatyA sahitò yathA zakrò marutpatiH ॥ 1-163-21 ॥

एवम आसीन महाभागा तपती नाम पौर्विकी तव वैवस्वती पार्थ तापत्यस तवं यया मतः ॥ १-१६३-२२ ॥

'The Gandharva continued, saying, "This, O Partha, is the tale of Tapati of ancient times, the daughter of Vivaswat."' ॥ 1-163-22 ॥

evama AsIna mahAbhAgA tapatI nAma paurvikI tava vaivasvatI pArtha tApatyasa tavaM yayA mataH ॥ 1-163-22 ॥

तस्यां संजनयाम आस कुरुं संवरणॊ नृपः तपत्यां तपतां शरेष्ठ तापत्यस तवं ततॊ ऽरजुन ॥ १-१६३-२३ ॥

'For her, you are known as Tapatya. King Samvarana fathered a son named Kuru with Tapati, who was the foremost of ascetics. Being born in the lineage of Kuru, you, O Arjuna, are to be known as Tapatya.' ॥ 1-163-23 ॥
