[ग] अथ तस्याम अदृश्यायां नृपतिः काममॊहितः पातनं शत्रुसंघानां पपात धरणीतले ।। १-१६१-१ ।।

sanskrit

'The Gandharva continued, 'When that maiden disappeared, that feller of hostile ranks, deprived of his senses by Kama (concupiscence), himself fell on the earth.'' ।। 1-161-1 ।।

english translation

[ga] atha tasyAma adRzyAyAM nRpatiH kAmamòhitaH pAtanaM zatrusaMghAnAM papAta dharaNItale || 1-161-1 ||

hk transliteration

तस्मिन निपतिते भूमाव अथ सा चारुहासिनी पुनः पीनायतश्रॊणी दर्शयाम आस तं नृपम ।। १-१६१-२ ।।

sanskrit

'As the monarch stumbled, that maiden with sweet smiles and prominent, rounded hips reappeared before him.' ।। 1-161-2 ।।

english translation

tasmina nipatite bhUmAva atha sA cAruhAsinI punaH pInAyatazròNI darzayAma Asa taM nRpama || 1-161-2 ||

अथावभाषे कल्याणी वाचा मधुरया नृपम तं कुरूणां कुलकरं कामाभिहत चेतसम ।। १-१६१-३ ।।

sanskrit

'With a gentle smile, she spoke these words of honeyed grace to the descendant of the Kuru lineage:' ।। 1-161-3 ।।

english translation

athAvabhASe kalyANI vAcA madhurayA nRpama taM kurUNAM kulakaraM kAmAbhihata cetasama || 1-161-3 ||

hk transliteration

उत्तिष्ठॊत्तिष्ठ भद्रं ते न तवम अर्हस्य अरिंदम मॊहं नृपतिशार्दूल गन्तुम आविष्कृतः कषितौ ।। १-१६१-४ ।।

sanskrit

'Rise, rise, O vanquisher of enemies! Fortune favors thee; it is not befitting, O lion-hearted ruler, for you to lose your composure, being renowned as you are in this world.' ।। 1-161-4 ।।

english translation

uttiSThòttiSTha bhadraM te na tavama arhasya ariMdama mòhaM nRpatizArdUla gantuma AviSkRtaH kaSitau || 1-161-4 ||

hk transliteration

एवम उक्तॊ ऽथ नृपतिर वाचा मधुरया तदा ददर्श विपुलश्रॊणीं ताम एवाभिमुखे सथिताम ।। १-१६१-५ ।।

sanskrit

'Thus addressed sweetly, the king beheld the maiden with wide eyes, standing before him.' ।। 1-161-5 ।।
