साध्व इमं लब्धवाँल लाभं यॊ ऽहं दिव्यास्त्रधारिणम गान्धर्व्या मायया यॊद्धुम इच्छामि वयसा वरम ॥ १-१५८-३६ ॥
'I am indeed fortunate to have encountered you, O Arjuna, the wielder of celestial weapons! I desire to bestow upon you the ability to create illusions unique to Gandharvas. Your fiery weapon has destroyed my splendid and diverse chariot.' ॥ 1-158-36 ॥
english translation
sAdhva imaM labdhavA~la lAbhaM yò 'haM divyAstradhAriNama gAndharvyA mAyayA yòddhuma icchAmi vayasA varama ॥ 1-158-36 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअस्त्राग्निना विचित्रॊ ऽयं दग्धॊ मे रथ उत्तमः सॊ ऽहं चित्ररथॊ भूत्वा नाम्ना दग्धरथॊ ऽभवम ॥ १-१५८-३७ ॥
'I, who was once known by the name of my excellent chariot, shall now be known by the name of my chariot, which has been burnt.' ॥ 1-158-37 ॥
english translation
astrAgninA vicitrò 'yaM dagdhò me ratha uttamaH sò 'haM citrarathò bhUtvA nAmnA dagdharathò 'bhavama ॥ 1-158-37 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंभृता चैव विद्येयं तपसेह पुरा मया निवेदयिष्ये ताम अद्य पराणदाया महात्मने ॥ १-१५८-३८ ॥
'This knowledge was gathered by me in the past through austere penance. Today, I shall present it to you, O mighty one, as a token of respect.' ॥ 1-158-38 ॥
english translation
saMbhRtA caiva vidyeyaM tapaseha purA mayA nivedayiSye tAma adya parANadAyA mahAtmane ॥ 1-158-38 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसंस्तम्भितं हि तरसा जितं शरणम आगतम यॊ ऽरिं संयॊजयेत पराणैः कल्याणं किं न सॊ ऽरहति ॥ १-१५८-३९ ॥
'What good fortune does he not deserve who, having vanquished a foe through his strength, grants him life when that foe seeks it?' ॥ 1-158-39 ॥
english translation
saMstambhitaM hi tarasA jitaM zaraNama Agatama yò 'riM saMyòjayeta parANaiH kalyANaM kiM na sò 'rahati ॥ 1-158-39 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचक्षुषी नाम विद्येयं यां सॊमाय ददौ मनुः ददौ स विश्वावसवे मह्यं विश्वावसुर ददौ ॥ १-१५८-४० ॥
'This knowledge is known as Chakshushi. It was passed from Manu to Soma, from Soma to Viswavasu, and finally from Viswavasu to me.' ॥ 1-158-40 ॥

cakSuSI nAma vidyeyaM yAM sòmAya dadau manuH dadau sa vizvAvasave mahyaM vizvAvasura dadau ॥ 1-158-40 ॥
