इयं भूत्वा चैकवप्रा शुचिर आकाशगा पुनः देवेषु गङ्गा गन्धर्व पराप्नॊत्य अलक नन्दताम ॥ १-१५८-१८ ॥

'Those who drink from the seven streams—Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Vitasta, Sarayu, Gomati, and Gandaki—are absolved of their sins. O Gandharva, as this sacred Ganga flows through the celestial realm, it is known there as the Alakananda.' ॥ 1-158-18 ॥
