एवम उक्तः परवव्राज कृतास्त्रॊ ऽहं धनेप्सया अभिषिक्तं च शरुत्वैनं कृतार्थॊ ऽसमीति चिन्तयन ॥ १-१२२-३१ ॥
'At last, the time came for his departure. Having finished his studies, he bent his steps towards his country. I offered him my regards at the time, and, indeed, I remembered his words ever afterward.' ॥ 1-122-31 ॥
english translation
परियं सखायं सुप्रीतॊ राज्यस्थं पुनर आव्रजम संस्मरन संगमं चैव वचनं चैव तस्य तत ॥ १-१२२-३२ ॥
'With great satisfaction, Drona, having completed his mission, returned to his friend, the ruler, recalling their meeting and conversation.' ॥ 1-122-32 ॥

ततॊ दरुपदम आगम्य सखिपूर्वम अहं परभॊ अब्रुवं पुरुषव्याघ्र सखायं विद्धि माम इति ॥ १-१२२-३३ ॥
'Approaching Drupada, I declared, "O illustrious one, recognize me as your friend, O tiger among men!" Saying this, I approached him confidently, as a friend should.' ॥ 1-122-33 ॥

उपस्थितं तु दरुपदः सखिवच चाभिसंगतम स मां निराकारम इव परहसन्न इदम अब्रवीत ॥ १-१२२-३४ ॥
'When Drupada, accompanied by his friend, saw me, he greeted me with a smile and said, "He seems familiar, yet I cannot place him.' ॥ 1-122-34 ॥

अकृतेयं तव परज्ञा बरह्मन नातिसमञ्जसी यद आत्थ मां तवं परसभं सखा ते ऽहम इति दविज ॥ १-१२२-३५ ॥
'Your discernment seems lacking, O Brahmana, as it is not very appropriate that you call yourself my friend here in the assembly.' ॥ 1-122-35 ॥
