पाञ्चालराजपुत्रस तु यज्ञसेनॊ महाबलः मया सहाकरॊद विद्यां गुरॊः शराम्यन समाहितः ॥ १-१२२-२६ ॥
'At that time, driven by similar aspirations, the powerful Yajnasena, the prince of Panchala, resided in the same hermitage.' ॥ 1-122-26 ॥
english translation
स मे तत्र सखा चासीद उपकारी परियश च मे तेनाहं सह संगम्य रतवान सुचिरं बत बाल्यात परभृति कौरव्य सहाध्ययनम एव च ॥ १-१२२-२७ ॥
'He became my friend, always seeking my welfare, and I cherished him deeply. We lived together for many, many years. O descendant of the Kuru lineage, from our earliest years, we studied together, and indeed, he was my friend from boyhood, always speaking and acting in ways that were agreeable to me.' ॥ 1-122-27 ॥

स समासाद्य मां तत्र परियकारी परियंवदः अब्रवीद इति मां भीष्म वचनं परीतिवर्धनम ॥ १-१२२-२८ ॥
'Approaching me there with all respect and courtesy, he, Yajnasena, spoke to me, Bhishma, words that were highly gratifying.' ॥ 1-122-28 ॥

अहं परियतमः पुत्रः पितुर दरॊण महात्मनः अभिषेक्ष्यति मां राज्ये सपाञ्चाल्यॊ यदा तदा ॥ १-१२२-२९ ॥
'I am the most cherished son of my noble father, Drona. When the time comes, he will anoint me as the ruler of the kingdom, along with the Panchalas.' ॥ 1-122-29 ॥

तवद भॊज्यं भविता राज्यं सखे सत्येन ते शपे मम भॊगाश च वित्तं च तवदधीनं सुखानि च ॥ १-१२२-३० ॥
'O friend, this is truly my solemn vow. My sovereignty, wealth, and joy shall all be intertwined with yours.' ॥ 1-122-30 ॥
