अग्निवेश्यं महाभागं भरद्वाजः परतापवान परत्यपादयद आग्नेयम अस्त्रधर्मभृतां वरः ।। १-१२१-६ ।।

'At the source of the Ganga, there lived a great sage named Bharadwaja, who steadfastly observed the most rigorous vows. One day, long ago, to perform the Agnihotra sacrifice, he accompanied many eminent sages to the Ganga for his ablutions.' ।। 1-121-6 ।।

english translation

agnivezyaM mahAbhAgaM bharadvAjaH paratApavAna paratyapAdayada Agneyama astradharmabhRtAM varaH || 1-121-6 ||

अग्निष्टुज जातः स मुनिस ततॊ भरतसत्तम भारद्वाजं तदाग्नेयं महास्त्रं परत्यपादयत ।। १-१२१-७ ।।

'Previously, the renowned Bharadwaja, foremost among those skilled in weaponry, had imparted the knowledge of the Agneya weapon to the illustrious Agnivesa.' ।। 1-121-7 ।।

agniSTuja jAtaH sa munisa tatò bharatasattama bhAradvAjaM tadAgneyaM mahAstraM paratyapAdayata || 1-121-7 ||

भरद्वाज सखा चासीत पृषतॊ नाम पार्थिवः तस्यापि दरुपदॊ नाम तदा समभवत सुतः ।। १-१२१-८ ।।

'At that time, King Prishata, a close friend of Bharadwaja, welcomed a newborn son named Drupada.' ।। 1-121-8 ।।

bharadvAja sakhA cAsIta pRSatò nAma pArthivaH tasyApi darupadò nAma tadA samabhavata sutaH || 1-121-8 ||

स नित्यम आश्रमं गत्वा दरॊणेन सह पार्षतः चिक्रीडाध्ययनं चैव चकार कषत्रियर्षभः ।। १-१२१-९ ।।

'Drupada, the illustrious son of Prishata and the foremost among Kshatriyas, regularly visited Bharadwaja's hermitage to engage in playful activities with Drona and study under his guidance.' ।। 1-121-9 ।।

sa nityama AzramaM gatvA daròNena saha pArSataH cikrIDAdhyayanaM caiva cakAra kaSatriyarSabhaH || 1-121-9 ||

ततॊ वयतीते पृषते स राजा दरुपदॊ ऽभवत पाञ्चालेषु महाबाहुर उत्तरेषु नरेश्वरः ।। १-१२१-१० ।।

'Then, after Prishata's demise, Drupada became the king, renowned as the mighty ruler of the Panchals in the northern realms.' ।। 1-121-10 ।।
