[व] कुन्तीपुत्रेषु जातेषु धृतराष्ट्रात्मजेषु च मद्रराजसुता पाण्डुं रहॊ वचनम अब्रवीत ॥ १-११५-१ ॥

'Vaisampayana said, 'After the birth of Kunti's sons and also of the hundred sons of Dhritarashtra the daughter of the king of the Madras privately addressed Pandu.'' ॥ 1-115-1 ॥

english translation

[va] kuntIputreSu jAteSu dhRtarASTrAtmajeSu ca madrarAjasutA pANDuM rahò vacanama abravIta ॥ 1-115-1 ॥

न मे ऽसति तवयि संतापॊ विगुणे ऽपि परंतप नावरत्वे वरार्हायाः सथित्वा चानघ नित्यदा ॥ १-११५-२ ॥

'It is not fitting for you, O chastiser of foes, to feel remorse because of me, For I am always established in righteousness and worthy of your choice.' ॥ 1-115-2 ॥

na me 'sati tavayi saMtApò viguNe 'pi paraMtapa nAvaratve varArhAyAH sathitvA cAnagha nityadA ॥ 1-115-2 ॥

गान्धार्याश चैव नृपते जातं पुत्रशतं तथा शरुत्वा न मे तथा दुःखम अभवत कुरुनन्दन ॥ १-११५-३ ॥

'O sinless one, I also harbor no resentment that despite my higher birth, I am considered inferior in rank to Kunti. Nor do I lament, O scion of the Kurus, that Gandhari has been blessed with a hundred sons.' ॥ 1-115-3 ॥

gAndhAryAza caiva nRpate jAtaM putrazataM tathA zarutvA na me tathA duHkhama abhavata kurunandana ॥ 1-115-3 ॥

इदं तु मे महद दुःखं तुल्यतायाम अपुत्रता दिष्ट्या तव इदानीं भर्तुर मे कुन्त्याम अप्य अस्ति संततिः ॥ १-११५-४ ॥

'This is indeed my great sorrow, that despite being equal to Kunti, I remain childless, while fate has granted you offspring through her alone.' ॥ 1-115-4 ॥

idaM tu me mahada duHkhaM tulyatAyAma aputratA diSTyA tava idAnIM bhartura me kuntyAma apya asti saMtatiH ॥ 1-115-4 ॥

यदि तव अपत्यसंतानं कुन्ति राजसुता मयि कुर्याद अनुग्रहॊ मे सयात तव चापि हितं भवेत ॥ १-११५-५ ॥

'If the daughter of Kuntibhoja were to arrange for me to have offspring, she would indeed be doing me a great favor, and it would benefit you as well.' ॥ 1-115-5 ॥

yadi tava apatyasaMtAnaM kunti rAjasutA mayi kuryAda anugrahò me sayAta tava cApi hitaM bhaveta ॥ 1-115-5 ॥
