[भस] गुणैः समुदितं सम्यग इदं नः परथितं कुलम अत्य अन्यान पृथिवीपालान पृथिव्याम अधिराज्यभाक ॥ १-१०३-१ ॥
'Bhishma said, 'This our celebrated race, resplendent with every virtue and accomplishment, hath all along sovereignty over all other monarchs on earth.' ॥ 1-103-1 ॥
english translation
[bhasa] guNaiH samuditaM samyaga idaM naH parathitaM kulama atya anyAna pRthivIpAlAna pRthivyAma adhirAjyabhAka ॥ 1-103-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरक्षितं राजभिः पूर्वैर धर्मविद्भिर महात्मभिः नॊत्सादम अगमच चेदं कदा चिद इह नः कुलम ॥ १-१०३-२ ॥
'This family of ours, which has been protected by previous kings who were great souls and knew their duties, has never faced decline at any time.' ॥ 1-103-2 ॥

rakSitaM rAjabhiH pUrvaira dharmavidbhira mahAtmabhiH nòtsAdama agamaca cedaM kadA cida iha naH kulama ॥ 1-103-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptरक्षितं राजभिः पूर्वैर धर्मविद्भिर महात्मभिः नॊत्सादम अगमच चेदं कदा चिद इह नः कुलम ॥ १-१०३-३ ॥
'The esteemed lineage has been uplifted by Krishna (Dwaipayana), Satyavati, and myself, nurturing you three to ensure its enduring legacy.' ॥ 1-103-3 ॥

rakSitaM rAjabhiH pUrvaira dharmavidbhira mahAtmabhiH nòtsAdama agamaca cedaM kadA cida iha naH kulama ॥ 1-103-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवर्धते तद इदं पुत्र कुलं सागरवद यथा तथा मया विधातव्यं तवया चैव विशेषतः ॥ १-१०३-४ ॥
'It is incumbent upon both of us to take the necessary measures to ensure that our dynasty flourishes once more, like the boundless sea.' ॥ 1-103-4 ॥

vardhate tada idaM putra kulaM sAgaravada yathA tathA mayA vidhAtavyaM tavayA caiva vizeSataH ॥ 1-103-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptशरूयते यादवी कन्या अनुरूपा कुलस्य नः सुबलस्यात्मजा चैव तथा मद्रेश्वरस्य च ॥ १-१०३-५ ॥
'I have heard that there are three maidens suitable for our lineage. One is from the Yadava lineage, the daughter of Surasena; the other is from the Madra lineage, the daughter of Suvala.' ॥ 1-103-5 ॥

zarUyate yAdavI kanyA anurUpA kulasya naH subalasyAtmajA caiva tathA madrezvarasya ca ॥ 1-103-5 ॥
