असुखानाम अनाथानां तिर्यग्यॊनिषु वर्तताम स एव राजा भूतानां सर्वेषाम अभवत पिता ।। १-९४-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'And Santanu was the king and father of all—of those that were miserable and those that had no protectors, of birds and beasts, in fact, of every created thing.' ।। 1-94-16 ।।

english translation

asukhAnAma anAthAnAM tiryagyòniSu vartatAma sa eva rAjA bhUtAnAM sarveSAma abhavata pitA || 1-94-16 ||
