तयॊः समभवत पुत्रॊ वृद्धयॊः स महाभिषः शान्तस्य जज्ञे संतानस तस्माद आसीत स शंतनुः ।। १-९२-१८ ।।

sanskrit

'From them, an illustrious son was born in their old age. He was the progeny of Shantanu, born of Shanti, and therefore, he was named Shantanu.' ।। 1-92-18 ।।

english translation

tayòH samabhavata putrò vRddhayòH sa mahAbhiSaH zAntasya jajJe saMtAnasa tasmAda AsIta sa zaMtanuH || 1-92-18 ||
