इह देवत्वम इच्छन्तॊ मानुषेषु मनस्विनः जज्ञिरे भुवि भूतेषु तेषु तेष्व असुरा विभॊ ।। १-५८-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'And the sons of Diti (Daityas) being repeatedly defeated in war by the sons of Aditi (celestials) and deprived also of sovereignty and heaven began to be incarnated on the earth.' ।। 1-58-27 ।।

english translation

iha devatvama icchantò mAnuSeSu manasvinaH jajJire bhuvi bhUteSu teSu teSva asurA vibhò || 1-58-27 ||
