तरिभिर वर्षैः सदॊत्थायी कृष्णद्वैपायनॊ मुनिः महाभारतम आख्यानं कृतवान इदम उत्तमम ॥ १-५६-३२ ॥
'And as this history of the Bharata race is so wonderful, that, when recited, it assuredly purify mortals from all sins. The sage Krishna-Dwaipayana completed his work in three years.' ॥ 1-56-32 ॥
