जानामि भद्रे यत कार्यं परदाने कारणं च यत पन्नगानां हितार्थाय पुत्रस ते सयात ततॊ यदि ।। १-४४-३ ।।

sanskrit

'And he said, "O amiable one, you are aware of the purpose and the underlying reason for your bestowal. If, from that union, a son is to be born for the welfare of the snakes.' ।। 1-44-3 ।।

english translation

jAnAmi bhadre yata kAryaM paradAne kAraNaM ca yata pannagAnAM hitArthAya putrasa te sayAta tatò yadi || 1-44-3 ||
