नूनं सर्वविनाशॊ ऽयम अस्माकं समुदाहृतः न हय एनां सॊ ऽवययॊ देवः शपन्तीं परत्यषेधयत ।। १-३३-६ ।।

sanskrit

'Surely, our annihilation hath come. Otherwise why should not the Immutable Lord prevent our mother while uttering the curse?' ।। 1-33-6 ।।

english translation

nUnaM sarvavinAzò 'yama asmAkaM samudAhRtaH na haya enAM sò 'vayayò devaH zapantIM paratyaSedhayata || 1-33-6 ||

तस्मात संमन्त्रयामॊ ऽतर भुजगानाम अनामयम यथा भवेत सर्वेषां मा नः कालॊ ऽतयगाद अयम ।। १-३३-७ ।।

'Therefore, let us consult today how we may secure the safety of the snakes. Let us not waste time' ।। 1-33-7 ।।

english translation

tasmAta saMmantrayAmò 'tara bhujagAnAma anAmayama yathA bhaveta sarveSAM mA naH kAlò 'tayagAda ayama || 1-33-7 ||

अपि मन्त्रयमाणा हि हेतुं पश्याम मॊक्षणे यथा नष्टं पुरा देवा गूढम अग्निं गुहा गतम ।। १-३३-८ ।।

sanskrit

'All of you are wise and discerning. We will consult together and find out the means of deliverance as (did) the gods of yore to regain lost Agni who had concealed himself within a cave.' ।। 1-33-8 ।।

english translation

api mantrayamANA hi hetuM pazyAma mòkSaNe yathA naSTaM purA devA gUDhama agniM guhA gatama || 1-33-8 ||

यथा स यज्ञॊ न भवेद यथा वापि पराभवेत जनमेजयस्य सर्पाणां विनाशकरणाय हि ।। १-३३-९ ।।

'So that Janamejaya's sacrifice for the destruction of the snakes may not take place, and so that we may not meet with destruction.' ।। 1-33-9 ।।

english translation

yathA sa yajJò na bhaveda yathA vApi parAbhaveta janamejayasya sarpANAM vinAzakaraNAya hi || 1-33-9 ||

'Sauti continued, 'Thus addressed all the offspring of Kadru assembled together, and, wise in counsels, submitted their opinions to one another.' ।। 1-33-10 ।।

[sa] tathetya uktvA tu te sarve kAdraveyAH samAgatAH samayaM cakrire tatra mantrabuddhivizAradAH || 1-33-10 ||
