[सतम्बमित्र] जयेष्ठस तराता भवति वै जयेष्ठॊ मुञ्चति कृच्छ्रतः जयेष्ठश चेन न परजानाति कनीयान किं करिष्यति ।। १-२२३-४ ।।

sanskrit

'The third brother, Satambamitra, said, "The eldest brother is regarded as the protector. It is he who rescues the younger ones from danger. If the eldest himself fails to rescue them, what can the younger ones do?"' ।। 1-223-4 ।।

english translation

[satambamitra] jayeSThasa tarAtA bhavati vai jayeSThò muJcati kRcchrataH jayeSThaza cena na parajAnAti kanIyAna kiM kariSyati || 1-223-4 ||
